"Tell me where the big people are, please. The big, reckless, brilliant people who believe passionately in doing something good and noble and inventive. I'll rest in their shadow or I'll help them balance their weight. I pray that they'll hire me or teach me. I'm so tired of small people and small things. It doesn't have to be a small world." - Jeanne Moreau
The corporate world is on the verge of shifting from old power structures to starting to move towards new regenerative systems. Companies start to realise that the current boom in sustainability and net-zero commitments will not be enough to transform the vast social, environmental and economic challenges we are facing. Businesses need to take a long-term view and become a regenerative business, promoting the restoration and regeneration of natural resources and social systems.
There are a lot of different meanings to the word regeneration whether used in agriculture, medicine, fashion, products, business, or different use cases or sectorial perspectives.
Regeneration in business starts from our (re)connection with self and nature. How do I see the world and what am I creating with my work/company, startup or organisation that really contributes to a beautiful world without harm to others and the natural world?
We all know the calling from deep within what we want to do or would like to create in this world. Connecting with nature amplifies the connection to our true self and the understanding we are part of a whole and helps us navigate how we can contribute to a better world, respecting living beings and nature. How we want to design and create a future for our personal life, families or work, makes a difference. It all starts with becoming aware and turning your (metaphysical) intentions into (physical) action.
Regenerative business examples
Clothing & Gears: Patagonia has created a different type of ownership — not based on maximising shareholder value any longer, but on the purpose and independence of the company. Profits become thus not an end in itself, but a means to their purpose: all distributed profits are used for climate protection and the preservation of undeveloped land around the globe.
Nutrition & Personal Care: Unilever started a supply chain revolution in early 2021 with the announcement that the company will guarantee a living wage to all tier one suppliers – “rais(ing) living standards by ensuring everyone who directly provides goods and services to Unilever earns a living wage or income”. By making sure that workers earn a living wage, Unilever is supporting economies and improving their ability to grow.
These are not timid steps towards a more regenerative approach but deeply thought-through examples of how big corporate structures as well as smaller companies can have a clear and long-term regenerative vision.
You don’t have to be a big corporation to embody regenerative principles. You can be a start-up as well;
Technology: We perceive the concept of regenerative transformation as extending to Artificial Intelligence as well, with the power of transforming all industries. A pioneering instance of this is Memri, the Regenerative AI platform. Memri is creating an ecosystem where users and developers unite, championing data sovereignty for all users through personal AI. This innovative approach employs a community-led and cooperative model, reimagining AI in service to all life rather than a tool controlled for the benefit of a select few. Human intelligence is an extraordinary power combined with AI, that requires all of us to take part and the good news you are invited, too!

How to start regenerating your business?
As identified by WEF, here are five things for companies starting this journey:
Articulate your vision for systemic change: Through a clear understanding of your purpose, impact and influence, articulate where you believe you can reshape economies.
Map systems and identify leverage points: Based on a mapping of different systems (internal, operations, value-chain and the macro-economy), assess through an analysis of feedback loops, your role in the system, highlighting where you have the ability to restore social and natural systems by strategically allocating resources.
Set a regenerative strategy: Define how you will deliver value through regenerative outcomes. Understand your key areas of impact and where you can deliver the greatest stakeholder value.
Review business models: Assess your products and services and review how you can deliver value through regenerative practices e.g. through product-to-service models, where the focus is on the value of service provided, rather than the quantity of goods sold.
Define and deliver value: Understanding that regenerative approaches can drive financial value-creation is key to their success and durability. We need sophisticated approaches to understand value creation that consider the financial value delivered across the entire enterprise ecosystem.
By moving beyond sustainability and towards regeneration, we can take on the monumental challenges that lie ahead.

Business or Pleasure?
How frequently have you encountered this question? How often have you found yourself making a decision between the two? But what if the answer isn't confined to a binary choice? What if we could opt for both and genuinely enhance our businesses with joy? What if we integrated more feminine pleasures into our daily lives and business ventures?
That’s what RX’s Canay Atalay who is also the founder of The Heroines, is inviting us. Listen to her interview by Mariya Grinina, founder of Feel on "Creating abundance, building a business and innovating with pleasure and joy" in the Feminine Power Podcast.
